Taking a power-out from behind a cig lighter?

   I want to put in a USB charging cable for my phone, without having a massive thing stuck in the cig lighter coming loose all the time and a wire going right up the centre console.
   
   Can I just take two wires off the back, attach them to my USB-cig-lighter chargers connections that normally stick inside the lighter, stash it somewhere and thread the USB charge cable where I like?
   
   Any idea which colour cables i'd need to use?

   The wires to your cig lighter (the French refer to it as Cigar Lighter ... yuk yuk ) are
   
   Grean yellow - earth
   Grey - positive
   
   My Haynes manual says that the power supply is provided via a 20A fuse and I can't see any problems with you connecting your USB direct to these wires as this is what would have happen if you plug in your cig lighter adaptor. On saying that does the adaptor have an internal fuse lower than 20A? I think I'd be tempted to air on the side of caution and include an inline fuse with your hard wiring.
