Wheel arch trims just wont stay!!

  1. #1
A few weeks back i was driving in very heavy rain, came round a corner and hit a very and i mean VERY deep puddle at 40mph. The water blew my wheel arch trims off my MK1 VTR. Ive tried in vien to get these back on but it doesnt seem to want to stay. The metal clips that were stuck to the underside of the trim that held it in place are rusted through and have all fallen off, Ive bought some of that trim repair tape and it works excellent for about a week then they are just hanging off again. I cant seem to find those metal clips for sale anywhere and if i could they only appear to be stuck on in the first place so how would i attach them. grrrrr....

    Any ideas people plzzzz!

are these the wheel arches or the inner trims?

if the former, go to a body shop suppliers, buy some tiger seal (its like no nails but 100 times better) and bond them on.

This happened to me on my old VTR, front near side arch got dragged along the floor after too.

You are better off doing this to be honest, quicker, cheaper and better results.

You can get the clips from your local Citroen parts garage for like 9p a Clip.
(Note that Citroen have seen these clips as being a design fault and have designed new, stronger clips)

Where your metal mounts have come off simply grab a bit of sand papaer, smooth them down so they fit flush on the trim, glue them down stick new clips in and job done. Total cost about 70p if you have glue already.

Since using the new clips I didnt have the problem with puddles etc, even when i sent my car into a barrier the arch stayed on in one piece, was amazed. lol

you reckon thats quicker than squirting tiger seal onto the arch and sticking it on?

Maybe not quicker, but better results and peace of mind.

(Tigerseal isnt always in local shops, so can take 3 days delivery )

You would never catch me just squirting a sealent onto my arch and sticking it on, spose Im a bit of a perfectionist.

when i had the vtr i had one stolen an another flew off in a puddle, in the end i used nuts an bolts instead of the clips from citroen worked much better

my side trim won't stay on at all. they started hanging off at the door but i took the whole thing off to repair and re stick back on. but wen i stoke it on it won't stick. i used evo stick epoxy and its shit. tiger seal sounds much better.
