i will give you some invaluable advice about spraying mate

    NEVER RUSH...

you say you did the wheel in 45mins? the drying time between coats needs to be much longer and you need to sand between coats to get an even layer, i cannot stress how important that is to get the desired finish.

iv done a few sets of wheels now including my own and preperation is the key to the result.

im currently doing a set of vts wheels in stealth jet black, yep thats right im using aircraft paint on this set!

if you want anymore help\advice on spraying just drop me a PM and id be glad to give some pointers.

good go tho for the first attempt!

Reason for orange peel is to much paint applied per coat.

Also wheels need at least an hour between coats for the paint to fully dry not just the surface but under to.

Also should have fixed the kurbing before hand

And lastly your valves may now be screwed as they have paint in so tyres may have to come off which could damage the paint.

not bad for a first attempt mate
Definitely more time needed spent on the next set, but top effort!

Just got to make sure you keep sanding with that wet sand paper matey primer then sand primer again sand, paint and sand then paint again and sand etc only way really to get it smooth, and obviously making sure you fully stripped them first!

looking good i'm after some decent priced alloys for my saxo but i can't advertise in sale/wanted section because im new !
  19. #19
best to use white primer or grey primer ??? or doesnt it matter
  20. #20
I'd give them a good sanding down before primer mate next time. Get them all super smooth, but apart from that its a good effort

Looks liek far too much paint put on with each coat hence the peel effect.

To repair the rim you need an "alloy repair kit" i know, catchy name! and as mentioned mask bits a lil better for your next time, if in doubt get m powdercoated

yeh they look good, should of took your time on the sanding though cause that has a real bad case of orange peel, i did mine and took me 2 days just for the sanding before any paint or primer
