Engine Build / conversion

Alright guys, Gave up on my bodywork for now as i cba, so I'm now concentrating on a engine build i want to ether buy a vts engine and rebuild, iv also been looking into c2 vts engines or even building saxo vts block with a c2 vts head on to put in my 106,

So wanting to get it strip it and fit it, is there any problems when fitting the c2 vts into my 106 like what will be my main problems ? and is it worth it as iv heard the bottom ends are weak which bought me onto the idea of the c2 head on vts block build, don't even blab on about my age and the insurance tho because that's not what i'm asking,
although my next door neighbor reckons i should stick with the 8 valver engine and get it bored out +5 which means nothing to me as i want to start with a 16 valver lump, so anyone got any tips and ideas for me to have a fairly nice decent summer build project ?

ive just got a vts lump and have got some cams for it, Everything needed keeps adding up and is a very pricy game! But if youve got the money and know how much things cost then ok... U Rebuilding with standard or uprated internals? Either way can be dear again too lol,

im not really in it for performance the vts engine would be plenty for me, i just want a "spanking" engine lol full c2 vts engines go for around £550 - 600 with everything on them just if i could build a S block with the JP4 head and if i would benefit from it being a stronger engine for around the same price i would rather go that way of things

depends what you want, re biulding an engine can be expensive, but if you was doing tht then get it blue printed FTW! lol, but if you just want a bit more go then try fine a good vts engine and stick it in.

depends on what how much you are looking to spend on it.

alright, well most vts engine / gti engines for sale are on 70+k miles, so i was thinking of going for the c2 engine but don't know what the pros and cons are apart from them being on less than 15k although being told they have very week bottom ends, so i thought if i sourced a jp4 head and installed it onto the vts lump, but boring out the vts lump maybe new / refurbed pistons, bearings and so on not really in for the power side, as the vts has plenty, but i want a strong base engine, for maybe future improvements

yeah know exactly what u mean, i wanted to do it, but realised, the price, and am now thinking mite aswell wait till this one goes... Could at the end of the day still have problems with a rebuilt one... Could buy a very low mileage saxo vts engine for £500, mite be worth looking at. But if you want a project the go with the saxo/c2 head. Look into all cost before hand though, oils, plugs, gaskets etc all add up to £100's

yeah,i dont want to throw loads into my trashy 8 valver yet, but im not saying ill be sticking in a 16v striaght away, i want somthing to progressivly build up

sounds good, would i need to buy new springs etc if i wer to use the internals of the j4 head in to jp4 head ? or are the clearances the same ?
