on bumpstops

hey guys ... ive just slammed my car, its now sitting on the bumpstops.

and its now low enough imo... im running on 14's, with budget tyres 165/65 ... if i put on a lower profile, the car will sit lower yeah? but i want the actual car lower *wheels in the arch more*

can i get smaller bumpstops or cut them in half ?

take them out at you pearl would not advise it mate just lower the tyre wall height

if you want your wheels in your arches more get some bigger alloys

i want 15's and lower profiles ... i assume that will make a difference, or stay the same becuase the inch on the wheel and the low profile will level out on the 14 and 65 pro atm, if that makes sense...

not to worry about mots so its a-ok! lol
oh yeah ... how long before these shocks are shagged? ... from the feel of the ride i get the impression, they will be by the weekend is out :/ ...

Chances are, if your sitting on the bumpstops your shocks arent doing anything.

Raise it before you end up hurt.

cut them in half, but you'll have hardly any suspension travel and prob flip the car on a corner haha

    hedge finders...........

i no it sounds stupid but what are bumpstops iv herd people removing them andf stuff but what am they ??
  12. #12
sorry mate but putting your car on the bumpstops it just stupid. actualy im not sorry, basicaly you need to raise it. bumpstops off a s1 106 are smaller but not much. if you leave it like it is you will destroy your rear beam as it will still be trying to move still. you need travel on the rear.

have you ever wondered why its an mot faliure to sit too close to the bump stops??

    1. your going to bend your shell
    2. your going to ruin the rear suspension (as it stresses the front bearing rather than the arm and this then collapses)
    3. its dangerouse for handeling as the car basically has no rear suspension
    4. if it does collapse and your moving at over about 2mph say bye bye to your car as your rear wheel will happily rip out your boot floor when the arm comes off (and over about 10mph itll flip the car)

i could go on tbh but i think you might get the idea
    basically its a bad idea

and shatter your back, my mate had lotus 7 he hit a dip in road bit his fag clean in half and is still having physio a yeah later he sold the car a week after as couldnt get in it even if he wanted, so you may knacker your car at least but back problems a far worse, shocks are there for a reason

i live in mutley / peverell mate.
always in town and around the Hoe... cant miss me... two tone now, silver and posi blue.

im having serious doubts about this, im in the middle of making an install, pretty hefty one to that... im thinking raise it around 20-30mm and get some lower profiles
