Quick question about VTRs

    Hi everyone,

    Just wanted to know whats the difference engine wise between a mk1 vtr and a mk2 vtr? The mk1 has a carburetor dusnt it? What gives the mk2 an extra 10 bhp? thanks

    And no mate, there both fuel injected, cars havnt used carbs since the 80s.

    both injection. mk1 90bhp
    mk2 98bhp
    not sure why though

    thought that, had an argument with someone, and the fella insisted the mk1 had a carb. and he owns a mk1 XD

    I think its something to do with the CAT being in the manifold for a MK2 and its in the exhaust for the MK1 which restricts the air flow giving it less power.

    MK1 - 90bhp
    Mk2 - 98bhp

    Mid 90's honda civic eg DX was carbbed
    Square shaped micras made up to 1990 where carbbed.
    etc

    Mk2 one vtr had the cat under car mk2 had it in the manifold.

    Also the dip sticks are in different places

    There where a few in the 90s, but they where pretty much fineshed by then.
    Got me on the civic though

    i know someone who has an '96 pug 106 and he has a carb :O

    the differences are all in the head inlet and exhausts
    one has a roller type one is non roller
    they also run different inlets and ecus and the obviouse cat differences

    the mk1 has a diff engine to the mk2 but there aint really that much diff perfomance wise

    yer the engines are different inside but still built along the same lines

    the old models 1.1's etc are single point injection
    everything else is multi point


    the mk2's had revised manifolds both intake and exhaust
    which is where the 8bhp came from
