induction?

i was looking under the bonnet today and was looking how i had connected my air filter up and it got me thinking ...

the pipe circled in red is connected to the engine breather ... and i though when the car sucks air from the filter will this pipe not just add loads of hot/warm air from the engine and so decreasing performance as the hot air will get sucked into the inlet?

any thoughts of other ways i could connect the air filter/breather system up? maybe use the beather filter i have on the top left on the engine breather ... and then connect this open breather to the air filter were it used to be connected to the engine?

i have searched but seen quite afew different ways of connecting up different types of filters ...

    cheers

oil breather or use a catch tank.

I believe this is an oil breather, when the engines is one it vapourises some oil this gets piped back into the inlet system to be burnt off under normal conditions,

some say it hinders performance/some will argue different there are two options you can do

    1) leave it as is it works well
    2) buy a oil catch tank and feed this pipe into it blanking off the hole it leaves

    Hope this helps
