Hi can any1 plz help or suggest something as my VTR 98 black top works very close to critical temp on gauge since i changed antifreeze. When run on water works fine, but i wanted to use coolant for obvious reasons rather than water. Bleeded the system properly but goes into red zone when overtaking on motorways and in town. Thanks in advance !
Important! : Engine overheating

#2have you tried blowing on it?
Alternatively, could be your coolant temp sensor, thermostat, possibly an airlock, water pump etcccc -
#3Checked thermostat as well and its fine. Not airlock either as works fine with water. I guess im gonna have to blow on it lol
-
#4Headgasket?
-
#5I hope no ! How can i check it ?
-
#6take it to a garage n ask for a compression test.
-
#7btw u dilute the antifreeze?
-
#8Yep but i didnt follow the instructions on the bottle. Y ? Wht diff wud it make ?
-
#9Any sounds of running water from inside the car?
-
#10No mate none. What would that be anyway ?
-
#11Free bump, as i want to know to. Mine doing the same
-
#12Is it still in the red zone? this happened to me too
i got the radiater bled and it went back to normal but in the end the head gasket was gone.
take the oil cap off your car and look at it. see if it has a creamy substance on it or is the oil pure.
Also, check the exhaust and see if you're losing water. -
#13The running water would show theres an airlock or you don have enough coolant in. I had this and realised there wasnt any left because of a leak
-
#14Oil cap is fine. Will look at the exhaust tom tho. I defo have enuf coolant in coz i check it every morning now since the car was overheating. I do lose a wee bit of coolant about 50 ml maybe so i just add some more every morning from now on lol

#15How can i check the water pump ?
-
#16take of the top rad pipe, see if the water gets pushed out from the pipe coming from the thermostat where you have disconnected.. while running too.
-
#17i have a thermostat for sale if its needed
-
#18Thanks mate but my thermostat still works. Ill just try to run engine on water tom and see whats gon happen.
-
#19mine did that after i flushed my rad and re-filled it. it turned out that i filled it up wrong and it had an air lock. the next day my engine went POP! overheated and melted all the plastics attached to the engine!
-
#20Thats extreme mate i hope mine gon b good tom as im going to refill the system tom as it pissing down now
-
#21Just make sure is bled right if you can rule out headgasket...
On me old VTR i had to bleed it a few times before it was reet and even after that it still read 3/4's on the temp guage -
#22Ha ! Sorted flushed the radiator and run the system on water just to make sure it didnt overheat and then filled it agin with coolant seemed fine today. Thanks a lot for all the help much appreciated !
