cleaning air filters

   can any1 tell me what is the best chemical substance to use to clean a saxo vtr standard round air filter pls?and what oil to use to put at the top of the filter?

   well i have K and N and theres a special kit for cleaning which i bought for a tenna from halfrauds which had all i needed such as the cleaning product and oil
   
   i have heard that petrol does clean it though

   Hot soapy water does the trick, let it stand in it for a while, then give it a rub. Let it dry off then re-oil before re-fitting (for an after market filter)
   
   If its your standard airfilter dont bother just buy a new one

   so after it dries do i put a little bit of petrol in it b4 i put it bk in or do i use sum other oil?

   You dont wash it at all. you bin it and buy a new one....
   Washing really wont help at all.

   Yeah if it's a standard filter, just replace it with a new 1.

   I'd have thought a paper filter would just fall apart if you tried cleaning one.

   You could blow it with compressed air, but for the price id just get a new one

   after all that,i didnt really need to do anything because theres not a dirt in it. it just seems that my car is losing power and i cnt think of anything else it cud be.can any1 think of anything pls that it cud be?

    try looking at your plugs and maybe change the fuel filter
