Does the white part on the gear knob come off?

   Stripped everything off down to the picture below. Looking to cut an inch off my standard gear stick. Does this white part come off?

   Well mine didnt screw off. Underneath the plastic is knurling, it didn't twist off most of it has now broken but the bottom half of its still intact so it should be ok.

   yeah i hack sawed mine off and it a nice height now just above seat height perfect or i think so took about 1.5 inches off

   they dont come off, well not in one piece anyway mate.
   
   i did mine the other week, i made 2 cuts and then welded the top piece with the plastic for the gear knob back on.

    well i got some grips on it and tried to twist it but it snapped lol.
    
    The bottom half of it that wasnt on the knurling part stayed in one piece though so ide reccomend cutting the top half of the plastic off, then sliding the bottom half down the stick. Cut off however much you want, then slide the plastic back up a bit. Put the black cap on so it goes onto the white part then refit the gaitor and knob.
    
    Works perfectly for me i cut 1 inch off feels quite nice.
