What would you have and why?
SS Race System or Ashley Comp System

#2I gotta say it depends if you want the noise or not? Everyone seems to rate the Ashley system as one of the best sounding, and the exit is perfect size. But as you know, the fitting is a bit shitty but can be made to fit as I found out yesterday, just needs some time under the car.
-
#3Personally i would rather have Ashley, i just prefare them. And does anyone know what the SS backbox thats big is called? something like magnum?
-
#4the supersprint backbox with the 4 inch tailpipe is called the magnum
-
#5SS with the magnum backbox ftw
-
#6Isn't the supersprint 2 inch (50mm) race system (straight through centre pipe and backbox) built for optimal performance, if that what your looking for?
Correct me if i'm wrong Kam

#72inch is two small imo, doesnt fill the gap enough.
2.5inch janspeed is perfection tho
-
#8Yes but not everyone wants that!Quote:Isn't the supersprint 2 inch (50mm) race system (straight through centre pipe and backbox) built for optimal performance, if that what your looking for?

Also you have to consider the material they are made out of.
Ashley is a mild steel competition system. It will rust quickly and will have a limited lifespan
The supersprint is aluminised steel and will last a lot longer.

#9great advice as always kam
-
#10True but still looks better than standard imo, and when it comes to more power it seems silly to waste BHP on looks, especially when it looks as good, if not better than the standard one.Quote:Yes but not everyone wants that!

#11Although i respect supersprint hugely, i don't think they spent much time and effort designing the saxo systems. The manifold is an extremely good bit of kit though, once you weld it together
-
#12ashley, sound excellent look good and work well with the tu engines
-
#13They rolling road every system they design so there will be a gain with the supersprint. Whats your issue with it?. Whatever the amount of time spent, we have had plenty of customers comparing their systems on rolling roads with good results.
Theres no need to weld the manifold bits together, but you need exhaust paste otherwise it wont seal, just like any other slide-on exhaust part...
I cant say whether you will get more power on lightly tuned saxos than an Ashley system. I dont know any details on Ashley's pipe bore etc and have no knowledge of how they design them, but whatever their process is, our customers need something that will last, and something that will fit together as good as a standard part. -
#14what paste do you recommend?Quote:They rolling road every system they design so there will be a gain with the supersprint. Whats your issue with it?. Whatever the amount of time spent, we have had plenty of customers comparing their systems on rolling roads with good results.

#16KY? lol

#17its all the same sort of stuff. Pop down your local motorfactor and get a tube.
It will be called something like exhaust assembly paste.
This expands and dries hard with the heat from exhaust gases so turn on the engine and let the car idle to bring it up to temperature.
If you are running group A engine mounts or similar then the engine vibration may break the seal as it dries solid. If this is the case then use some high temperature gasket sealer (would need to cope with over 300degrees.)
Then make sure everything is done up nice and tight!

after applying the paste could you not wrap some heat wrapping round it? -
#19Left a comment on your page but no reply yet, Out of interest kam will an OMP backbox pair with a SS race centre section? As i've found myself an OMP backbox and really fancy it
-
#20heat wrap will not seal it though so would not be a solution.
