im looking at tuning a vts engine to fit into my vtr

i have been looking at some cams but im after some information...

if i fitted a cam, ph1, ph3, catcams or something... if in the future i decided i wanted to turbo it, would any of them cams run with the turbo or would i need to change the cam

    I am confused by this

Why would you want to cam your VTR engine, only to then go and put a S engine in a turbo it?

Or have i got the wrong end of the stick?

Depends what kind of turbo setup you have. But yes almost all most cams would run along with a turbo

so if i got some ph3s for the S they will be ok when i come to turbo it

For a turbo you dont need a lairy cam so just a mild cam is better. Lariy ones are better suited for throttle body setups

so maybe a ph1 for low range till the turbo cuts in

ph3 is still a mild cam, just dial out the overlap when you turbo it and it'll be fine imo.

i think the catcam range has turbo specific cam profiles from memory..

what you need to ensure is that there is no valve overlap.. when the inlet valves and the exhaust valves are open at the same time. Otherwise the boost blows straight out the exhaust
