firstly, are you on 3 stud or 4 stud wheels?

in theory the engine should be a straight swap - but i would only do it if the brakes and suspension were up to the job.

good old 3 stud lol well the vtrs a 02 plate aswell nd my 1.1 a 96 lol would dat matter

id be looking to change the whole brake and suspension setup as NIJ pointed out. Gearbox, Ecu, engine wiring loom, if you got sum cash might also be worth getting some cams sorted out before you put it in.

to do it youll be looking at swapping all the interior looms around as the 3plug vtr loom wont match your single plug loom and you cantt put yout motor loom on the vtr due to the inlet differences

if you dont unlock you can put the vtr ingnition barrell in your car and then use all the vtr bits on it

You'll need to weld in the drivers side engine mount - IMO not worth the hassle unless you can weld yourself.

i would personaly use the 1.1 mount just unbolt the vtr mount with the 3 bolts and put the 1.1mount on i have done the same but my vtr was the same year etc and i just plugged and played changed my loom etc but in my case both engines were 3plug ecu,s
i looked at both options puttin the vtr mount on or the 1.1 mount and rather than weld it the standrd 1 does the same if you want a piccy let me no

id allways weld in the cradle
    its there for a reason

the 1.1 mount will allow the motor to flap all over the place and thats not good
