VTR bore and compression rates

   Hi
   this is my first post on this site.
   
   i was wondering does any one know what is the biggest but safest engine bore and compression rates you can run a 52 plate VTR as i can get this done cheap and it will add a noticable amount of power.
   
   also i i can get the port polish, balanced and skimmed on the cheap.

   The bore walls are quite thin so if chasing big power you dont want to go massively oversized.
   
   I dont know off the top of my head what most people feel are within the tollerances

   id like to know how you can get a larger bore cheap? as you would need oversize pistons.

   i know someone that rebuilds engines from scratch so he will get all the parts for me and do all the tinkering
