1.0 and 1.1 Quarter mile times

  1. #1
Who has had the balls to take their 1.0 or 1.1 saxo down the 1/4 mile? What is your time and modifications?

Ive read somewhere that a 1.0 can do 20 seconds but im not sure if it was EVEN slower...

Going to a RWYB at york, shakey or santa pod sometime and just hoping to get 20 or better if the timing glitches lol

Will be using my dads celica aswell (around 16 seconds, no mods) if he comes with to take his gsx

    Thanks

Officially 0-60 of the 1.0 is 3 weeks.
  6. #6
why dnt you look on parkers for 0-60s
  7. #7
funny thing is my scooter was faster than a 1.0l saxo lmao. it was 70cc!!!
  8. #8
had our 1.1 down full interior with two people in the car plus a sub box. mods was a peco back box and a k and n 57i thing and 16" rims 19.6 @ 67mph. which is not bad for a 1.1 tbh

why race a car like that.

its not a race car, its not even a sports car, not even a hot hatch.

its a shed on an engine, nice looking car tho, in best colour, wait till you can drop a BT lump in.

why is everyone getting pissed off?

theres no rules to what car you have to take down a strip, a VTS is hardley a "fast" car

so long as your having fun, then thats all that matters

its fast compared to a 1.o lol

vts is designed for that, not like a 1.0 that is not really designed at all.

if you wana go down there, and try, then go ahead, but i dont get what your asking really ?

    Thanks, i guess?

Just want to have some fun down the strip, i like drag racing, so why not have a go myself? I cant go in a vts as i cant afford insurance and blah blah.
Lucky for my dad to let me have a go in his car

Ohh, and ive seen a smart car at rwyb... longer than 20 seconds but was funny to watch, i guess it didnt have a busa engine in
  16. #16
tbh it sound stupid as there is no power from the 1.1 but twas the my first ever drag and the addrenalin rush you get is so much fun. would have been an even better rush if i had the chance to put the scooby on the track.

speed is relative, simple. there is no such thing as fast really.

a fast cricket ball is 40mph, a fast plane is 3000mph.

if the 1.0 is 50mph. then the 1.1i must be about 70 . i got a 1.1 with no mods. and it can pick up speeds above 70. tops out around 96mph

    exactly

    its all in comparison

like with the cricket ball test, you may think a 40mph bowler is fast. in an international level, 90mph is fast.

all relative to what situation your in

Thanks Alex, didn't expect that from you from the last comments you left on a thread of mine...
    BOLD; +1

its all good having a 1.1
as long as it dint say vtr on the side lol!!!

and don im not alexr so fail tbh
  31. #31
    yer my bad mate, sorry.
  32. #32
    dont be sorry
i thought you meant him tbh hence my question marks lol
  33. #33
vts is not designed to drag!!!
it was a rally car before any other type of racing
  34. #34
and its always the same people that bitch at 1.1s and 1.0s bout how slow they are
but then a soon as there a thread say i did 80+ in my 1.1 they bitch wtf have a vts if you stick to legal limits u may aswell have the 1,1 and save alot of money!
  35. #35
so they both accelerate the same yer, and have the same suspension and brakes ?
  36. #36
I love my 1.1 but i'd never rag it lol. I mean by all means try it because it would be fun but to me it wouldn't feel right in a car like that. Especially my 5 door lmao
  37. #37
another thing to take into consideration Sam, is the forces it puts on the car, i know its jsut straight line, but ive seen many cars launch and blow some part of the tranny.
  38. #38
you have to be a lot more gentle to launch a 1.1 (trust me i smahed everything in one go on mine)

tbh there not bad though if you do the right mods
mine was rather nippy and i rekon might have done well on track for what it was

Dont rag mine either tbh, i like getting 40mpg+ as im always skint and want the car in mint condition when i move onto something bigger

Well i dont want to rag it or even go anywhere near 6k, just just drive quick where its legal, on the track and have some fun

He would pwn in his 157BHP VTS

This really pisses me off when people slate anything less then a 1400cc. Mention 'Race' or 'Speed' and then '1.1' or '1.0' and everyone starts cussing you. Everyone has to start somewhere, unfortanate for us, out mummy's never bought us a car and paid out insurance

I would feel a bit of a nob in mine doing a quatre mile. 20 seconds? I mean 0-60 is just over 11 seconds for a 1.1 (and a 1.4 is like a second quicker, so again, slate the 1.1 as its a flattie, not a boobie). But tbf, If it takes 22 seconds (for example) to do 1/4 mile in a 1.1. Your top speed would roughly be 120mph? But of cause engines can't produce that so would be flat out at 100+ MPH?

Full strip, no breakfats, go toilet before hand and fill tyres up with helium. Not forgetting to have ''Yellow'' tyres so as you wheel spin away yellow smoke comes up .. Thats reall cool

Oh yer, swimming shorts and flip flops for racing gear.

Perhaps a fiver's worth of fuel in the tank (So petrol light is on) so there is less weight.

    Get some photos!

fast or quick... i think your really arguing over how quick something is.

    fast = top end speed
quick = how long it gets there

a quick, reasonable, i would say was my mazda 323 Gti. left clio cups and VTS standing.
fast, reasonable imo would be something like a 200sx with an r33 box at 170+ mph.

reasonable being relivent to what i personally could afford to own and personal preference...

but will still say, any car can be "quick" or "fast" depending on road conditions, weather, driver and many other factors.
  42. #42
Pah, Just go for it and have some fun. I had and still do own my 1.1 and it's great fun and wicked car to learn in, it's got soooo little power it's unbelievably forgiving.

Will be interesting to see what times you do actually get.
Even though everyone there will think hmmm.... them VTR's are fecking slow

And when/if you get an S you can start to have some more fun
  43. #43
ive seen a ferri 360 only be les than a second faster than a standard 2.0 vectra at the pod. the guy in the vectra could drive and the guy in the ferri span it up at the start and couldnt get it in gear most of the time.

So have fun and try and beat your own times ect to improve your self. If you have some one going with you that aint running there car try a run after you have taken spare wheel out, rear seats ect.

i wonder what these boys would do if a proper 1100cc series car popped up at a show and ruined them

see what they say then lol

tbh id love to see a 1.0/1.1 rock up on 888s or something at a show just for track time lol
