Fitted my K&N yesterday - pics

    Hi all,

I brought a k&n cone and pipe from here a while back secondhand and have cleaned and oiled it but never got round to fitting it as there were lots of threads about heat soak etc.

I was running the standard system with a green panel filter, but I wanted to see what it sounded like as I am a child!

I finally got round to doing it yesterday and it was a piece of piss really. The only grief was removing the resonator box and piping, which I ended up hacksawing and then pulling apart. I guessed I would not be putting it back on, but cut it on a flat section so I can if needs be.

Overall I am happy with the induction noise, but will see what motorway driving is like as I am used to a 6 speed car or a diesel so the revving VTS is an aquired taste for long journeys anyway!

Here are some pics if anyone cares, but I may revert to the standard airbox with a cold feed or two! (Y section with 2 pipes) if the noise is annoying.

Ignore the blue pipe, I had it left over from my Mk1 golf and it fitted.

Will have to put off cleaning it as I have a 6 month old daughter and should probably spend time with her rather than up to my arms in dirt. Will sort a cold air feed soon!

I am planning on getting a stainless back box, which could stretch to a cat back system. Although I may wait till it needs it as nappies and clothes are getting priority!
