#2If you can get hold of the MS, do it.
But you 'can' have it without. -
#3yeah i will do in time, just making sure that it would be fine with the standard one in the meantime.cheers
-
#4Standard MS is fine, just get fook loadsa pedal travel
-
#5As above, I am happy with my braking but the pedal travels some distance.
-
#6I believe you can use a 406 v6 MS too? get a definate answer on this tho
-
#7You can do without but if you want any feel atall in the pedal youll need the MC
-
#8rite guys i have the brake setup and MC. i have tried searching but to no avail, which part of the caliper needs grinding? if any? i will be running S rims. cheers
-
#9youll need to do it when fitting, you can see then where it needs grinding and can mark accordingly. % min job
Just a quick tip, before you drain all the fluid to do the master cylinder, crack all the bleed screws open your going to use and then close them again, ie back brakes and gti-6 calipers, As my back ones were siezed in and nipples snapped soo easily, on both sides, was a pain in the ass haveing no brakes for a week!

#10can see where it needs grinding as it will catch the strut? am i right in saying this?

#12Hi, fitted xsara VTS discs & callipers to my Saxo VTS a couple of months ago, it works brilliantly with the standard master cylinder, pedal travel is the same as before (with the standard callipers) but you can take the travel up on the conversion adjuster (for want of a better name) from left to right-hand drive behind plastic cover or alternatively is all the air out of the system?
As pictures show above you do need to grind a little off of the callipers so they fit flush on to the strut and the bolt holes line up. BUT.........I don't think I'd touch the calliper - I ground a flange of off the strut bottom much safer in my opinion. But everyone to their own!

Thats the carrier not caliper.
You lose no integrity from the grinding. -
#14I converted my front brakes to GTI6's about 3 months ago still cant get used to the endo's i pull haha!! dont need to change the master cylinder its big enough believe me. just need to whizz a little bit of the suspension strut rather than the calipa, if you get it right the caliper will sit snug against the suspension unit with no movement. Sweet as a nut!!you'll love fast breakin more than the top end i tell you!!
-
#15i think im going to grind the carrier tbh, as it will be easier as its off the car.other people have done it so should be fine
-
#16Just don't stamp on the brakes at speed it'll stop on its nose

and you don't need any special expensive pads

-
#24Just box em up, put your original ones back on and try put it to the back of your mind till you got the new bits, make sure he covers the return postage too
-
#25yeah will do, hope its just a genuine error on his part as he has another set for sale, hoping he has two drivers side ones in that setup pain in the arse tho
-
#26a little cheat would be to adjust the brake travel nuts
-
#27well ive contacted the seller and hes going to send out the drivers side caliper from another set he had for sale and let me keep the extra one so result!
