VTS EGR valve

  1. #1
i have seen many people with VTS's remove the EGR valve that site above the manifold. Would this not effect the runing of the car? i want to do this as it does look alot tidier, especially with a shiny new 4-2-1 in the bay, but obviously dont want to damage anything

    cheers for any help

its ok to remove it. as its not an egr valve. it pumps fresh air into the exhaust ports on start up for a few seconds.

Personaly I'd probably have kept mine on as it offers no benifit by taking it off (apart from maybe 5kg weight save) and if anything I'm pretty sure my car has never liked cold starts as much since I removed it!

yea its not to save weight or anything like that mate lol, i just think the bay looks so much more tidy with it removed. and like i said, if you have a new 4-2-1 in there, you want to see it

nice one mate, thats whati want to hear..., how did u block the hole on side of the head?

there is a flang that holds the egr pump to the head. cut the pipe and slide the flange over the en of the pipe. then using a vice force a pound coin into to the hole in the centre of the flange. and happy days you have just made your own blank flange. then put it back on with the pound coin side facing the head and nip back up. job done
