Saxo 1.1 k&n induction kit fitting help

  1. #1
    Hi all,

I,ve had a good look through the forum for an answer and i'm still a little stuck. Hoping you can help.

Im trying to fit the intake but my main problem is the intake pipe doesnt seem to want to fit.

Not sure of the type of engine but it looks as though the filter is going to have to point downwards.

Ive posted a few pics for you to take a look at.

    Any help is most appreciated.

Picture 1 - looks like a tight fit the pipe doesnt wanna go in or over where i think its supposed to.

Picture 2 - The K&N Piping has a hole init where another pipe joins - where does the opposite end of this go? Am i pointing to the correct place?

Apologies for the absolute dosile questions but this is my brothers new car and nothing like my corolla

one pipe comes direct off of the throttle body, the other small one on the pipe is the oil return pipe. Goes to the rocker cover, or you could put a breather filter/ catch tank on it mate.

Hi really sorry but aint seen this type of engine before. Isn't the 1st picture showing the pipe over the throttle body? Cos it just wont fit...or atleast fit well

    Cheers

what car is it? a 1.1? Imagine this, but replace the BMC CDA with your K&n and the rocker cover is slightly different.

thats a 1.6 16v VTS engine btw, not the 1.1

aint sure but witht he airbox etc out of the way it looks as though the k&n piping has to point downwards. I've attached an original engine bay picture for you to take a look at - let me know what you think....

    Cheers.

Aaah, Looks like you have the SPI engine as opposed to my MPI one. You sure you've bought the correct kit. Send me the link of where you ordered it (If online), and I'll check it out for you mate.

There are too many of these threads on fitting indcution kits to 1.1s

If i could find a 1.1, i would fit a K an N on and make a guide on it. Really its not rocket science.

autocheck.com might help, let me know?

In that case, it appears that you have the right kit. Your engine looks different to mine though. Sorry mate, I cant really help you. Maybe could if you post some more detailed pics up.

Youve got the wrong kit mate that engine is the same as my old 1.1 you need the kit that sits right on top of the TB with no piping or anything!!

After all that he has the wrong kit

I think he could just junk the piping, and just use the filter that he got with the kit,Just striaght on the TB with a hose clip.

when i had my 1.1 the K&N was the only one that would fit i looked everywhere. seemed to be the only one around purely because of the TB posistion! not even if you got some pipe on it and bent it, it would still be too tall. sucky design tbh

Lol I can honestly say that's the most ingenius way of fitting an air filter. Right... That is definantly the wrong kit mate that black box you have it attatched to is supposed to be completley removed. Either get your money back and get the correct kit I posted or make sure that the clip holding the filter on is super tight I can see that falling off at some point. Plus the heatsoak from it being in the posistion defeats the object of having it. I'd strongly suggest getting the correct kit mate. :-)

What have you decided to do dude?
