VTS gearbox in a VTR?

  1. #1
    Morning all,

I have got a VTS gearbox for my VTR, and getting it fitted tomorrow (Friday) and have heard that the VTS gearbox will affect MPG alot (I know this is to be expected due to the ratios of the box etc), but how much is it effected? I'll be doing some motorway miles in the car, as well as the usual national speed limit roads going to and from places in the N.E.

Can someone help with my query?

    Thanks in advance!

Is that due to the revs sitting higher with an S box? I have read somewhere that in a VTR, travelling at 80mph, the revs sit at 3.5k (this is true), a VTR with a VTS gearbox at 80mph will sit at 4.5k revs? That true?

So fitting a VTS gearbox to a VTR is good for what I currently do? National Speed limit roads, and some motorway miles

    at about 3600rpm you're at 70mph in 5th in a VTS (or a Vts'd boxed VTR)
    at about 4100rpm you're at 80mph

That's actual speed an not indicated speed though.

ask any really driver, any real saxo driver.

    They will say do it.

If just using it for the same driving, never going on quarter mile or track seriously wouldnt bother imo.

Is this all from your new spreadsheet thing? lol

Top end will be effected with a VTS gearbox on a R then? Not that I will ever get to that speed, but you get what I mean.

accelerate faster in each gear... top speed might be a touch higher (like 1mph)
