    right guys..

i was recently on "carsurvey.org" reading up tryig to find any suggestions on how to add a few more BHP to my furio.

"If you want VTR power on a Furio, then you can get the cylinder head, cam and ECU from a VTR of the same year, and exchange it with your Saxo's, a straight fit, looks exactly the same so you would get away with not telling your insurance, and you get around 25hp extra"

    is this statement accurate??

and i don't really have the money to replace ECU or CAMs at the moment so i'd start wit getting VTR cylinder head (available on ebay) i was wondering if this was worth the money...or whether i could get away with vts cylinder heads?

    cheers

I always got the impression the 1.4s were aluminium blocks and the VTR is a cast iron block. I'm not entirely sure how they interchange... An extra 25bhp though? That might be a bit of a push... it's the same as the 206 engine I think, 75 as standard, therefore getting 100bhp straight out of changing all that is a little unlikely. That's standard VTR power!!

just whack a vtr engine in....

    easier job

Well, not quite an easier job really. From experience it's a lot easier to replace a head than a whole engine!

    vts is iron block

the vtr head will fit but i doubt youll see 25bh from just a head swap
most of ther power difference comes from the extra 200cc not the head

its not hard to put a vtr lump in, me and my mate did one on his car 1.1 to 1.6 vtr, it was done in about 5 hours, and we didnt use a engine crane.

yer like the other guys said, the extra 200cc makes the difference, and isnt the vtr an injection? besides, i dont think theres a "cheap" way to add 25bhp to a car (unless you get a free engine )

tbh id say swapin engines would be easier then heads lol, not much in putting a vtr in a 1.4 car

The VTR block is 100% cast, I'm putting it into my car right now and it's definately not aluminium. The heads of the engines really aren't all that different weight wise to be honest. I had the head off the PSA 1.4 16v engine a week or so ago and it hardly weighs much more than my VTR head at all...

So I wouldn't rule out that the weight is a HUGE difference.

However my VTR might be running without PAS and without AirCon soon...
