How low to go?

  1. #1
I was thinking of lowering my 2000 Vts which is on 15"wheels and was just wondering how far i can lower it without it scraping? Problem is i frequently have 4 people in the car as i drive us to work and dont want it scrubbin if i have 2 people in the back.

    Thanks in advance

you can drop it 60mm and should have no scrubbing at the front, maybe a tiny bit at the rear. if so then remove arch liners- job done.
saying that, if you want optimum handling then stick with a 40mm drop (technically even that is too low ), if you're more into looks then go 60mm, or 50mm for a compromise. also don't forget to move the power steering pipe out of the way of the o/s driveshaft if you lower it by 60mm- just use a lever bar to move it away from the driveshaft.

Again agree with what seans said. My saxo is lowered 60mm and over the last year I have had 14,15 & 16" wheels on it and have had no rubbing at all even with a full car on 16's and only the arch liners removed.

When you say 60 mm is that with dampers or just springs as i am only able to afford springs.

i wouldnt advise just springs but cars have been known to be ok to go through at least 2 'mot's'...like dans for example!

if you can afford it mate get the full set up it will be better in the long run..no one can guarente how long your shocks will last with out the specific.
