Alloy refurb

    Im lookin to refurb a set of VTR rims, ive read a few guides but im unsure of what primer, paint and lacquer to use and where to get it from. any help?

    Tbh i would not spray them ide get them powerd coated

    powdercoating ftw, you paint it all the salt frome the roads just gonna rip off the laqeur, happened to my brother alloys

    But if do want 2 spray thm as im on a tight budget do i just use stuff from halfords like body paint?

    yeh i shud think so mate but place near me does sandblasting and powerdcoating bet cud get the lot done 4 about 80 quid

    I've painted mine. and the dirt sort of mixes with the paint and doesnt come off. pretty shit really...

    yeh if your on a budget then do them yourself as it will only cost about £40. i got quoted £150 to have mine refurbed professionaly so i went for the cheaper option as the wheels only cost £65 and they came out fine. i would recommend you get the tyres taken off the rims before you do them so you can spray the whole rim properly.

    and the paint i used was all from halfrauds. about 3/4 cans of primer, 3/4 cans of chosen colour and 2 big cans of laquer

    cant beat the results of getting it professionally done. You get what you pay for mate.

    if you do paint yourself give the paint/laquer plenty of time to harden afterwards like couple of days. might help stop contaminents getting embedded in the paint so easily, not a complete fix but would prevent, as would plenty of wax or something to protect the bottom layer.

    Prep the wheels then spray ACID ETCH PRIMER on them.
