perfect ride height

okay then so i have my car nearly 1 year now since then i have had to replace all the driving components - both drive shafts, track rod ends, wishbones, anti roll bar drop links, bearings, rear whole axel. maybe all of this is not due to being lowed but it was 80mm - 70mm now i have changed all of these componets so drives sweet but before i go driving it every were i want to rais/lower it the fronts 70 still the back standard love the lower look but i dont like the bills. what would be the perfect height to go on all the new components not to damage but as low as possible. many thanks

probably -50/60mm if your looking to do minimal damage.

general concensus seems to be -40mm is best for handling, -60mm is best for looks. each to their own though boss... just hope you manage to stem the flow of bills

    okay thanks

    I'd get it raised 30mm - so it's a net drop of 40mm.

my lst was 30-40 i think so i think im going to go 40-50

45mm lowering would be about right I think

    50 is good

40mm front 50mm back imo, its what i will be going for anyway.

mines down 40 at front and standard on back (gay i know)

will be 50 at back when i can be arsed sortin out gettin it done cos im gonna get -50 Apex when i get some spare cash.

lol at the minute mines is 60 front standard back though looks ridicouls but its no on the road so doesent matter but im going to lower it before i put it back on the road but i just need to buy some new front springs so i think then 45 as kam said nd maybe 50 back ? whats the best springs to go for on a tight budget ? and i will need new shock right ?

I am currently 50mm all round and never had any issues with parts, handling or getting over speed bumps etc but im not happy with it and want to go lower so it might have to be a 60mm front and a 70mm rear. will i be able to avoid the bills if i drive slowly at all or is it inevitable to cause damage?

this was "apparently" -40mm springs and 15" alloys on my vtr. loved it!

so bought a -50mm springs and dampers set for my vts but its nowhere near as low

lol i am like 80 back 60 or 70 ish i think front and tbh mate its a night mare cant get on my drive skirts scrape and exhaust cant go down my local main road have to go over bumps with the wheel in the middle of the bump and as for bills your goint to have to go slow round corners not that though if you curb you car it wont be minimal damage because of all the pressure being put on the components.

looks like 50/60 looks nice but i have all new parts and dont want to start damageing them
  17. #17
well i didnt have any problems at that height. just avoid potholes etc like you would normally, go over speedbumps slowly and youl be fine
  18. #18
Mine is down 60 and sits perfect imo
On standard shocks though so a little bumpy but some B8's will sort that out
    Handling is good too

Mine was also 60mm all round and could not do a full lock wiv 17s on my car tho.. I think i goin wiv 40mm to avoid catching the speed bumps when i drive other them lol...

yeah try and avoide pot holes but thats hard if its dark ect i hit one in mine took out my side skirt and side arch ruind ! so the chance is if you wanna slam it just for looks and deal with all the hassle you COULD ! get.

anyone know where the post is with all the pics of lowering and dif size wheels?

Mines dropped 40mm at thr front on spax springs and dampners and one spline at the rear with spax dampners - roughly 50mm. Handling is insane.
