tinted windows??

hi there,
a couple of questions which i dont no and im woundering if some one can answer them
1st - what a the legal tint on the front windows?
2nd - what are the legal tint on the rear windows?
3rd - what are the legal tint for the boot window?
4th - how much does it roughly cost 4 the five windows tinting

as said and as Mr Houston said the price also we paid £100 for ours

also got ours graded the rear quarters, a few shades darker than the front then the rear a few shades, darker again, if you get limo black it will look gash if the front windows are left bare so to speak

nice silver saxo i got a woodland green saxo with black alloys smoked original rear lights n im woundering if it would look good with window tints???

The front windows have to let 70% light in, so a 30% tint.

I heard the standard windows block a certain amount of light on their own, so if you tint them atall its pritty much going over the limit.
Back three are as dark as you want.

I got all mine done apart from windscreen, almost driving a year in a well policed area and never been stopped or anything. Prob cos i dont drive like a dick like most people round by me.

Yep as above front windows cant have anything on them apart from security film...

back three can be purple for all the police care as long as you can see something

Not really, the reason you can tint the rears as much as you want is because it isnt the law to have back windows atall. look at vans etc
So you can completly spray them black if your cool ennuff

the lightest tinting film stops 35% of light coming through im sure so you arent allowed any on the front, standard windows already have a tint in them so the only option you have for the fronts to stay on the right side of the law is a security film which has about an 8% tint which would make the fronts slightly darker

hijacking the thread but saves from creating a new one, Instead of the tint film a place in aberdeen used to take your window clean the damn thing with an acid and then dye the glass do they not do that anymore or am i just mistaken??

the police in southampton are slack anyways, my mum is a 5-0 and she dont care about my car. I also previously been contracted by police too lol

your mom dont know the law then cus the windscreen is allowed 25% tint and front sides 30% tint

check the vosa website

tint places wont tint because they wud have to test how much light is going through atm (since there is a standard small tint) then use a film of like 10% (pointless and nowhere makes) so yes, to use normal film out of a shop (even ultra lite smoke is like 50% tint) is illegal, but fact remains, you can tint, proven obviously by the fact that they come off the production line with a tint on (you just cant use any tint that is manufactured for general public as that would be illegal)

i was thinkin of that, take the boot off and do it like that cos it would be a pain in the ass to do it inside the car lol, but then alot of people ave said on here its really hard cos of a curve in the window or somethin so i rang up my local place and they said £30 for jus the rear so might do with him lol

if it blocks 100% of light you cant see, the only reason you can see things is because light reflects off them, so if it blocks the light, u cant see the reflected light so if you can see through there not 100%

if you mean limo black, there supposed to be 95% but i doubt that

vinyl is more like 100% and you cant see through that

i know for a fact cos i got pulled for it the two front window tints have to be 60% upwards and if there lower than that they are illegal and if there lower than 30% they can deem the car unmovable from that point. they will usually issue u with a 2 week notice that u must go to a m.o.t garage and get a stamp to say that they have been removed and then posted out the address on the car. but the 3 back windows can be as dark as u like. hope this helps!

no amount of tint is legal on the front windows.
new cars that come out have 75% glass but you cannot tint your glass to 75% it has to be like that from when it come out the factory

used to av tints but in brum 5-0 hate tints so ripped em out avnt been pulled since i did that waste of money and time as looks shit without front 2 windows tinted
