New engine needed any ideas?

    just managed to kill my vts engine and was thinking of upgrading to a bigger engine its a 52 plate vts so any ideas what will fit? was think xsara vts lump but apparently it would be expensive and tricky. so prefrably some that would go strait in. iv done a fiesta engine before so iv got some experiance any help would be much appreciated.

    I wouldnt bother with a xsara engine because of the reason you've already stated its not cost effective, just pick up another vts engine you can pick one up for about £100 in todays market

    just put another 16v lump in it any bigger engine conversion like the zsara/gti6 is going to be alot of $$$

    if on a budget just get another vts engine.

    Do you need a head and bottom end? pressume the loom/ecu is ok. If so I have a spare for sale

    If you blew the engine up to thrashing it then fitting a more powerfull engine could result in you killing yourself aswell as the new engine.

    With good chassis mods and good brakes, the 16v lump is plenty powerfull with the right tuning. Take the money you'd save on an expensive conversion and use it to tune the chassis.

    you dont have to thrash an engine to kill it, i was learning in my first car (1.2 clio) when the cam belt snapped, causing the engine to eat itself, and my brothers car was pissing out oil, and ended up seizing, and believe me, he is slower than your nan

    but i do agree that if he had a bigger engine in it, without uprated brakes, mounts, tyres, suspension, gearbox, clutch etc, there will be no point having the extra power. your better off sourcing a decent S engine, low milage, and putting the money you save from the conversion into the new S engine, thats what id do anyways
