vts conversion (not the normal post :O)

    now your interested.... has anyone actually tried it ?

    plus i am not talking the saxo vts conversion of 1.6 but the 2.0 vts off xantia ?


    that would be a big difference surely

    would it be compatible ?

    mate ive thought the same thing, people say it wont fit!

    but anything is possible i say, would be a simple way to imence power gains,

    surly there must be some engineers on here who will know how easy it is to do.
    id liek to know of this too.

    i mean a gti-6 lump can fit in a 205 whats to say a 2.0vts wont fit a sax?

    im no engineer or expert but to be honest if it was easy everyone would have done it by now there would be numerous examples... but there just isnt unlike the novas...

    If you have the time, money & space, then all i can say is try it, if it will fit, it will be a very tight squeeze & i think quite alot of people would say it just isnt worth it.

    hmmm surly tho the layout is very similar, is there anyway to get hold of the dimensions of each engine to see how similar they are?

    is the vts a solid block or does it have liners, if its a solid block you could always open the bore use some nice larger forged pistons an have a nice engine.

    so many choices to choose, the easy option mate is a heavy tuned 1.6 vts lump they have so much potential an would be alot lighter that a 2.0 so your power to weight ratio would be much better.

    Even if it did fit it would be much heavier over the frotn wheels and you would sacrifice the fantastic handling!

    Would be a far better option to tune a VTS engine. Can be easily done with forced induction to over 200bhp..

    i dont like people being greatly sarcastic to me as your post was not on topic also i figured everyone asked about the vts conversion from one saxo to another not a vts from an xantia to a saxo



    back on topic... didnt think about the weight but i keep comparing it to the novas... im sure they thougth that the bigger engines would way more but they still fly like shit off a shovel

    exactly my point. why waste bandwidth with a question which is asked nearly once a week? you'll find out far more by doing a search on the subject than you will by reading the replies you get in this thread, hence why the search facility is there.
    and yes the saxo will handle like a bag of shite with the heavier engine (once you get it to fit
    ), as do the C20LET-converted novas/corsas. far better and more cost-effective to charge the vts and keep the handling.

    because as i said, if you read the previous topics then you get more people's views/opinions on the subject, some of whom are no longer active members of sax-p

    - 306 gti-6 engine has been done (same engine as xsara vts). cost a bomb and not worth it for 167bhp@fly when the saxo vts engine can be easily tuned to 150bhp and is lighter, therefor keeping the saxo's excellent handling, and you dont have to cut the engine bay to fcuk.

    ok caught up with my homework.... i asked about the xantia not the xsara... i no they could be the same but why didnt someone ask me to look up a xsara conversion instead ?!

    also the handling would be shit but wouldnt that be obvious so the obvious response would be uprated brakes and suspension... its not gonna be much heavier than a claibra etc etc is it... look at how the novas have turned out.

    ahhh, apologies mate, when you said vts i assumed you meant the xsara as they didnt make a xantia vts? most powerful xantia is the 2.0 8v turbo or the V6, neither of which would fit in a saxo without a shit load of work. as for the handling with the bigger engine, as said you would need custom springs or coilovers to cope with the weight and they would be so hard that the handling would suffer, the same way the novas and corsas with calibra turbo engines (C20LET) suffer.

    the hadnling wills till be shit, have you ever driven a 2 litre nova or corsa, the handling is fucking awful.
