#2find the nearest cliff.
-
#3aye rite . . apart from anythin daft like that
-
#4A better gear cluster.
1.4xsi should give you more perofmrance gains per £ -
#5would that not cost alot for a garage to fit etc?? i heard that someone on here will do a port and plish for £40 and that would give about 5 bhp?
-
#6and a decat £70 for 4bhp?
-
#7you wont get 5bhp from a port and polished TB, and 4-5bhp wont make it 'notably quicker'
that takes money
-
#8lols
fucking polishing a T B, ever next.
as for noticeably quicker, there is really only one thing you can do, without spending hundreds, and that is to strip the excess weight from it. -
#9Loose the interior mate
-
#10Port & Polished Throttle BODY ?! LMAO WTF £40 ?!
-
#11most people start of with breathing mods mate, ie induction kit, 4-2-1 or 4-1 manifold - de cat new exhaust system then after that cams.
its all down to how much money you have to spend really. -
#12Strip it.
Costs £0.00 as long as you have an assortment of tools. So IMO, best performance-per-pound mod you can do.
If you want to keep your interior, and don't mind spending a little money, Ryan's mention of the gears is your best bet.
-
#13depends on budget, for £200 you could get a manifold and full exhuast if you look around. Then strip it at the same time and you will feel a big gain
-
#14I would s=go go for S1 rallye box if you can get one will cost you a few quid but will be off the mark better, then the usual manifold, exhaust induction
-
#15Stripping is deffo a good idea. Ive done mine twice and still same after 2nd time i did and never looked back. Makes soooo much difference at handling and accelerating. Makes it more fun too drive. Id strip it and get a panel filter, Mani and zorst and springs if on a budget and new pads upfront.
-
#16you could sell the vtr interior and buy some bucket seats too
-
#17my vtr feels quicker with a vts box, that only cost me £100. next £2-300 i spend will be on a vts engine, to get to 120bhp out pf the vtr it would probably cost £1k+ so consider than when someone tells you they'll give you 5bhp for £401 user thanked this post:

#18100% strip..
-
#19I'll give you 5bhp for 40 quid and the next 5 for a bargain price of 20 quidQuote:my vtr feels quicker with a vts box, that only cost me £100. next £2-300 i spend will be on a vts engine, to get to 120bhp out pf the vtr it would probably cost £1k+ so consider than when someone tells you they'll give you 5bhp for £40

#43Sandy brown has a 1.4 16v hybrid running in a hillclimb series.
It wasnt just the matter of bolting on the 16v head to the 1.4 bottom end though. it can be done but isnt economical, its only real benifit is if you are limited by racing class to say 1400cc and want the better form of 8more valves
-
#44i would love to put a 16v engine in but my car only has 29,000 miles on, do you not think its a waste?
-
#46good aftermarket induction kit and de cat i could feel the differnce tbh
-
#478 more valves....
or take the restrictor pipe out of your STD induction system
-
#49tbh like said vts conversion is most economical and is pretty straight forward
-
#52how much for me to buy a low millage vts engine and then labour from a garage to fit? £800 or something?
