Kentcams PT41

  1. #1
Hey guys, I can buy a new PT41 from kentcams for €90,- I'm thinking to buy these but i"m not shure what else I would need to fit these and if it's a easy job to do and what to do at all. Can anyone help me out?

Other question: Is this a good buy for road use?

PT41 is a fairly lairy cam - to make use of it, it's gonna cost you a fair bit.

You'll be wanting uprated valve springs and caps. Getting the head ported and polished wouldn't go a miss either. Then a remap to raise the rev limit.

As for the basic fitting, the head needs to come off so that's a new head gasket, head bolts and cambelt kit. Can also change things like the water pump etc. if you wanted to go that far.

Ok thankx mate. Do I also need to time it? How much are valve springs and caps? And are PT41 good for street use or are they ment for race/rally use?

hmmmm i think he may need a fair bit more than just some new valve springs and caps and a remap, its a 292deg cam with 3.05mm lift at tdc, so wil more than likely need forged pistons or pocketed ones and TB's or carbs

well im pretty sure you will need forged/pocketed pistons cause if you look at the 8v catcams range the 4900655 is a very popular cam over on rallye reg and that has 2.65mm of lift at tdc and thats said to be a 50/50 as to wether you touch pistons etc so anythink much higher than that i would have thought it would be extremly close of create valve and piston contact

also 280 maybe 285deg would be the sort of limit most people go to without running things like carbs or TB's, erm so think you would be looking at alot of work to fit these mate

i think if your def lookin at using kent cams you may be best with the pt11

    hope this helps

PT11 is for non roller rockers - i.e black top engine. I'm pretty sure the PT41 has ample piston - valve clearance... might be worth e-mailing them to double check.

I've got a PT40 and it's not really a wild cam at all if i'm honest. Wish I'd gone for the PT41 and spent a bit more doing head work!

from what ive read i dont think it has enough clearence 3.05mm at tdc is quite high like i said the catcam 645 is 2.65mm tdc and that is said to be extremly close and some can hit, the 645 is a 50/50 and that has 0.4mm less, so i would have thought it would hit to be honest, plus the duration is quite high and would need bodies or carbs

i didnt realise the pt11 was for blacktop though thanks for picking that out, ive learnt somehting new today then lol haha

but im pretty sure the cam is a bit too wild for standard internals and standard inlet, i did ask AlexB earlier today at the garage and he agrred it would need forgies and bodies/carbs
