Toyo R1R's....

Just been reading up on these.

    Look awesome.

    It's T1-R's meets R888's.

Basically road going R888's that are good in the wet.

I've only found one site selling them atm though....@ £87 each

    Look VERY tasty....

Theyll only be coming in 50 profile for a 15" rim though by the looks of it, which I wouldnt want to run as a road tyre, making them slightly pointless on a saxo as you could just get 888's for a track tyre

Someone mentioned them to me about 6 months ago, they'd found them on the Toyo site.

Sounds like they could be a good alternative to the 888s.

    why pointless?
ive been using 50 profile for a long time now with no problems etc.

the point of these tyres is to be an alternate wet weather tyre to the r888.

Same here, ive been 50 profile for aages now too.

Only reason was so i could try a set of parada spec 2's and obviously couse they wear slower on the rear i had to replace the front ones but stick to 50 profile, so t1'rs on the front atm.

Id rather stick to Eagle f1's for the road and 888's for the track.

Not being funny but being an imbertweener tyre that may be good for both road and track but not as good as 888's on track and eagles on the road if you get where im coming from.

Was reading up on these yesterday. How ironic!

Sounds like a good balance between a T1R and the 888s. Shame its only in a 50 profile like the R888s.

So what about when it is raining heavy on track? Im sure they would be a better dry tyre on the road over a f1 aswell.

It isnt an inbetweener tyre. Its a r888 that can cope with rain.

Theyve been described as an inbetweener tyre through out all the posts?

I havent even see these before let alone see how they perform but as i said id rather keep my goodyears for road/wet and 888's for the dry, for the simple fact these have come accross as inbetweener tyres.

I was on castle combe not long ago with a few inchs of standing water with constant rain and my goodyears outperformed every tyre there hands down. I have never heard a bad thing said about the eagles apart from wearing slightly faster than the t1r's which i wouldnt run on mine neway.

    Just my opinion guys.

    ^^^^

i see what your saying there BUT, why not have r888's on one set of wheels and R1R's on the other? as the r1r's are better than eagle f1's in dry and wet.

R1R's are more like a cr500 than a eagle f1, in respect that they are designed for fast road track use rather than an all weather road tyre.

How do these wear though ive tried a lot of tyres and ive found the eagles are best for my needs, if these come out better than my current eagles when change comes ill stick a set on.

£98 a corner fitted and last around 6-7k miles. Which is the best i could find ive ran conti's, kuhmo's michi;s etc.

well, if you look on any modern day tyre then you will see a tread wear number on the sidewall, this indicates how soft/hard a tyre is.
a toyo t1r has a tread wear number of 280, a r888 has tread wear of 100, an acb10 has tread wear of 20 (lol) and this new R1R ha a number of 140... this tells me that its much closer to the r888 in terms of compound. ive seen r888 last 7-8 k but not in a big car like yours, taking the fact the R1R is harder id say its entirely possible that it could meet your requirements....

all the tyres you have tried have the same thing in common, they are all weather performance tyres. not performance track day orientated tyres. so they will have compramised performance for noise/wear/safety. where as the trackday tyres dont have to.
