Right i bought a chipped ecu, little chip for the key and the transponder (bit that goes round the ignition barrel. All these are out of a mk2 saxo vts (same as mine). I have fitted these and the car wont start. is the a special way I would have 2 fit them? I have heard about unlocked ECU's and i wondered if maybe I would have 2 get my ecu unlocked. I was also wondering about taking the chip out and putting it in my standard ecu is this possible?

#3how come?

#4nice, wasted ya money there mate.
How much did u pay? -
#5lordy lordy!

#6If its a single plug I can unlock it for you and retain the remap too. I can also tell you if its actually remapped... last one i did was bog standard inside and the guy wasnt best pleased.
As for everybody else commenting on the thread you cant say anything until youve seen what map is on the chip, theres plenty of bad chips floating about but some good ones too. There is no reason why a correctly done map couldn't gain a few more bhp when fitted to cars with breathing mods etc. Yes every maps different but when your talking £100 chip vs £400 remap vs running on totally standard it aint bad
Whichever way you cut it its better than the dasteks etc that people use as long as the maps decent. -
#7problem is, hes probabaly talking about an ebay chip.Quote:If its a single plug I can unlock it for you and retain the remap too. I can also tell you if its actually remapped... last one i did was bog standard inside and the guy wasnt best pleased.

#8its not a resistor, its a chipped ecu apparently.
Ive still yet to see anybody RR one of those group N chips to see if they're any good yet so ive got no idea why people are slating them. -
#9no no, the guy who started the thread. They always call them chipped ECU's when its a ebay chip/resister thing that does feck all. and claims 15bhp instantly for a saxo
-
#10aye but they dont come with a transponder and pickup ring too
-
#12look mates i have my ECU chipped with a custom chip that a chiptuner made to me , it goes fine but it isnt as good as a remap ,i also had the Saxo Cup chip and i't was also a bit faster but not a great change at all , and my car has 4-2-1 raceland , raceland induction kit , and decated with standar backbox.A friend has this group N chip mounted onto his 106 gti , and he said that te car were a bit faster , but he take out that chip because he wasn't sure that was fine to the car to be cutting inyection at 8000 rpm.
-
#13i know the ecu is chipped. it was in my mates VTS until he rolled. i was never in the car but i'v been telt i revved past 8000rpm. its a 3 plug ecu.
-
#14it wont start because you havent got the immobilisor from the car its from, you dont need the ecu.Quote:Right i bought a chipped ecu, little chip for the key and the transponder (bit that goes round the ignition barrel. #15why would a remap go by unlocking it?Quote:If its a single plug I can unlock it for you and retain the remap too. I can also tell you if its actually remapped... last one i did was bog standard inside and the guy wasnt best pleased.

#16so is it possible taking the chip out and putting it in my standard ecu?
-
#17they arent soldered in, tbh mate, i have had the 3 plug ecus apart and it is definetly not a DIY job, tbh, i dont think it has been 'chipped'. as with the likes of superchips, chipwizards etc, they 'chip' or remap your ecu via the OBD port, not from fitting a chip.
so if it has been 'chipped' you will need to use that ecu, just get the immobilisor from the donor car. -
#18they are soldered in, they can be swapped out. You cannot do it without specailist soldering equipment
-
#19for 3 plugs? if you look on ebay the chips on there arent for the 3 plug ecu, i have only seen the 3 plugs done by downloading new maps via the OBD port.
-
#20doesnt matter, the map is still stored in an eprom.. it can be read/change and refitted.
