camber on rear wheels

  1. #1
hi, i got a proplem with the camber on the back wheel, all my mate when drivering behind me they say that there wheels camber away from the car, but when the car is still they look straight, the torsion bar is lowered arount 40 - 50 mm
does anyone know what the probem is and can i sort it out

    cheers louie

Could be the stub pins worn out. When they get really bad they move quite a bit. Feels like the winds catching the car all the time at higher speeds.

Need either a rebuild £300 for a replacement rear beam.

Well they dont make replacement Stub pins anymore. Piggy123 does rear beam refurbs for £300 irc and they have stub pins machined specially for him.

    Your choices are either:

    1. Rebuild with Sam - £300
    2. Replacement rear beam off another car, though u risk the same happening in the near future it it isnt already the same. £100.

    Easy enough to fit aswell.

jack the rear up and grab the wheel at 10 to 3 position, move back and forward and if theres any play in the wheel then the bearings are shot, the wheel should be solid

could it not be your trailing arm bushes?

i dont get how you wheels can camber in like \ /

the only time i have seen a wheel camber like that was a damaged and bent trailing arm.
  15. #15
If the wheel is out at the top ,it will be abent arm/ or hub mounting pin bent down possible from hitting a kerb,if it,s the hub pin normally the arm gets damaged aswell .If the wheel is in at the top it will be bearing/stub pins that are shot ok

just get sam to put a refubed one on for you. does a bloody good job in my opinion.

bearing colapses and puts ecsess stress on the torsion bar

in extreme cases the bar (or mor likely the bolt) may break and then the trailing arm may come free of the rest of the car (which would be bad)
