Gear stick

   could someone please tell me how i would go about changing my gearknob as its an 1.1 mk1 gearstick and its all moulded together
   
   
   
   as you can see in the pic its not like the vtr gear stick so what is the best way to change the gear knob, do i have to get a new gearstick?

   o and also why does it have that little vent just back from the gearstick because the vtr have electric windows there so is it just there for show or something

   yer as said above, sit in the backseat, put it in 4th, and pull like a motherducker. when youve done that, cut off the plastic thingy that held it on tight, leaving bare metal, put your new gaitor over and attach to base, then put on your new gearknob. you can get a gaiter from halfords, or pick 1 off another saxo from the scrappy, gearknob can get anywhere, i got a decent chrome 1 from a motor factor round the corner from mine who were doing them half price! 12 quid!

   are they realy coin holders?

   think so, had a mk 1, 1.1 before and had the same thing, and they hold Pound coins very snugley lol, pluss my dad had a car with same thing and held coins.

   just pull the top like a mofo until it comes really lose then where theres a little ridge/indent just below the ball i got a hacksaw out there. Then fitted my nice VTR gearnob and leather shizzle!

   whist your doing that, why not install a compbrake quickshift? big difference imho!!
