door card makeover, air vents etc.

I easily got my front speaker grills off, because they just pop off. Gave them a nice coating of Blue paint.

How on earth do I get the centre one that goes round the cd player and then 2 side ones? To be honest I havnt actually tried yet but I'd rather know before I get annoyed trying to pull them off!!

Also been thinking of giving the door cards a bit of zaz. Maybe chaging the standard crappy carpet style stuff with some blue and white material of some kind anyone done this before that can show some pics or step-by-step for a first timer? Need my car looking good for TRAX 2009!

    the centre console:
remove radio, unbolt 5 torx bolts: 2 in the outer dash buttons, 2 underneath the radio and i believe the last one is at the bottom of the console.
the side ones i believe just pull off. gently get them out with a screwdriver.

as for the doorcards: get the hole doorcard off, flip it over and you can see where the part that holds the cloth on is glued to the doorcard itself.
imo, i'd just gently cut it loose, get the cloth off, retrim it with the stuff you want, and glue it back on. but tbh, i've never done it myself, so don't know if it's easy.

Well anything will look better than that crappy standard one they give you in the Mk2 vtr's.

Been looking at some blue and white faux leather / vinyl type matieral thats not as tacky as it sounds. Will have a look at the door card when I'm home for work. Let you know how simple it is!

    Thanks for the vent info

i done me door card day before yest, was a bit of a pain. my advice is to cut the rivits holding the part rather than drilling it, cos you can use them again to pop back thro and hold in place instead of glue n screws. as for material, i sed leather stuff, and spray adhesive worked out well and pretty easy to do with patience and plenty of space, need to know more u can pm me or something

Looks quite good! so how did they come off? was it a hassle? To be honest I'm going to save those small bits for when i re-do the interior completely!

Well i've been telling myself that once I'm debt free and i've paid the car off its getting done up and going to TRAX 2009. So the work has started! Made a rule 1 or 2 mods a month or more depending on funds. This month is induction kit, next is new interior (this is where being a girl comes in handy, we can sow!) and angel eyes!

But will definitely pop those little babies off and give them a paint!
