Important! : key light lashing on dash on VTS and starter motor wiring

hi everybody i have recently removed my engine because had problems i have now refitted it and am having a few problems and wondered if anybody could help me my 1st is that there are a couple of wires i am unsurenwhere they go the 1st one is near the starter motor i have fitted the main power cable fromm the battery to the starter motor and the small square shaped earth to the starter but there is anothe wire which comes from the same place in the loom and i am unsure where it goes???????

and my second problem is that now the car is not starting and not even turning over when i put the key in the ignition and turn it to the second click the key light flashes on the dash i dont know whether this has anything to do with it.

just some info the car is a mach 1 vts i think it is supposed to have a keypad immobaliser but my friend has told me that my ecu must have been chipped and that the keypad must have been removed. i have not changed anything which would affect the car not starting apart from the loom as the loom was ripped off when the driveshaft came out and so this is why i have struggled putting the connectors and wiring in the right places. sorry about the book but i hope somebody can help me out with this this is why i have listed so much info. please please please can somebody help me

If the car aint starting when you turn the key and the key light is flashing then it sounds like the immobiliser is kicking in...........

if you have changed the loom and the ecu? then the code your key gives out will not be understood by the immobliser and so the car wont start. not sure about that but i think that could be a possibility. along the same lines if some of the plugs are not in the correct places the car will be getting all sorts of weird signals and probably wont start to protect itself, id say your best option is to take it to a garage that does diagnostics well that you trust and get them to have a look for you.not sure about your stray wire though mate

cheers m8 nah i havent changed the ecu and all the plugs are in the correct places and even if they wernt it wouldnt stop the car turning over it would just not start i have a diagnostic reader myself as i am an ex mechanic but jus wondered if anybody had experianced this issue and it jus clicked into there head oh well i will jus go and get my code reader 2mo and c what it brings up

It's the immobiliser, The transponder in the key doesn't fit with what you're trying to start...

Mine does it sometimes for some reason, I just have to take the key out and try again

i dont understand why it wouldnt fpit tho as i havent changed the ecu or thre key or the transponder i have only changed the loom so surely wouldnt make a difference and just an update it is now turning over jus not kicking to fire up my mae says the ecu has locked itself out as it has been unplugged for like 3 weeks how can i sort this as i have no money and dont want to go to shitron

Get an unlocked ECU from somewhere or have a quick search around for the guide on how to unlock it

If you cant get the ecu into an unlocked mode (ie running) you wont be able to unlock it yourself. With the keypad removed you wont be able to do that as you need the matching keypad.

It shouldnt stop the starter motor from turning the engine.. only the spark and fuel. So check youve got the wires on the stater motor. There is a small terminal and a large terminal which goes onto the starter.. you are missing the small one onto the starter is my bet if its not engaging

As for the ecu being unplugged for 3 weeks that shouldn't make nay difference to the immobilizer circuit. However plugging anything in with the ignition on and things like that can cause them to be damaged.

Did you at any point plug the ecu into another car? If so that will have caused it to lock

If all else fails - I can unlock the ecu for £65 which is the cheapest around unless anybody can prove me wrong!

i now have the engine turning over just not starting i have taken the fuel lines off and seems there is no fuel coming down the lines the light is still flashing on the dash, and no the ecu has not been plugged into anything for the last couple of weeks i have a friend coming to look at it later and he says he can unlock ecus apparently and test if it has locked itself out.will let you guys know of the progress
