Saxo VTR Stock Hatch

  1. #1
    Hi all

Im new to this forum, so go easy on me please

Basically, Im picking up my 2001 saxo VTR on Saturday, its currently got chavvy rims, and lowered about 60mm all round

Its got no mot, no tax and hasnt been run for 6 months - but does start

Basically, Im racing it next year in stock hatch, and its undergoing a lot of work to do so

First off, roll cage, harness, seat, steering wheel and stripping head to foot!

Second of all, suspension and getting the brakes working properly

Thats where I need help, I have been pointed here to ask about the suspension set up, Ive been told Gaz shock and dampers, and then springs of a varying lb rate, can someone advise me on what to get?

Im very stupid, and need to have a link to shocks, dampers and springs if anyone would be so kind

    Thanks very very much

i am also racing in stock hatch with a saxo. get hold of the regs they tell you what you can and cant do. on our set up we have used GAZ basically all you do is take off the suspension send it off to GAZ tell them what you want and they will do it. will cost about a grand as the rules state it has to be standard componants but you can modify the internals. bit gay tbh but rules are rules.

Most front runners tend to run LEDA or AST suspension, LEDA require doner dampers and will cost £1,360, AST costs roughly the same.

As for springs, faulkner are good, high spring rates over 300 lb are often used.

Torsion bar is often changed to 24mm.

ECUs normally used are OMEX 600, which cost something like £500.

For the exhaust most people are running Simon Hunt motorsport exhausts (which are made by Simon Hunt who races in stock hatch) the systems are 2 1/4 inch and cost roughly £300.

Hope this helps and look forward to seeing you at the events, I don't race myself all though hope to one day, currently I am a mechanic/engineer/whatever you could call it for my brother, Gary Feakins, at events (when I'm not bogged down with coursework)

What's your full name so I know who to look out for?
