    So the ecu from my mk1 vtr would not work on anyone elses mk1 vtr?

    i plan to put a VTR engine in my westcoast in a few weeks i will be buying a silvertop VTR engine with the single plug ecu, will i need the ecu unlocked for it to run in my westcoast? if i do where or who can i get it unlocked with? thanks Lee

    you will need to get the ecu unlocked, or you will need the ecu key and key reader for the engine you plan on puttin in. then all you have to do is put the key inside the reader and over ur ignition barrel and it will work.

    you dont need the pickup ring, but you need the immobilisor

    im putting my vtr engine in a mates 1.1, if i unplug the immobiliser box and start it again before i remove the ecu from the car, and do the same to the 1.1 will the vtr ecu need unlocking?

    nah, becouse both ECU's are unlocked. Keep the immobilisors disconnected though.

    and dissconnect the immobilisor when the engines running btw.
