A few mods :) in & out

  1. #1
Hey, this is my first post on here lol so hey.

Right ive just started modding my saxo. Had a few problems with the mods already on it.

    Ive basicly bought;
2 subs & amp package, (fitted)
    6x9's
    6.5" door speakers
    2 x bucket seats
front bumper to replace the old on
    boot flush
    gear knob
    gear gater surround
    (al still needing fitted)

Right for starters, i think 1 of the subs may have blown. Its crackelly as hell untill i put presure on one part of the sub. any ideas?

The 2 seats - i was wandering can they be fitted straight in. They have universal brackets but not the subframes.

I dont think i have a boot catch in the car & the only way i can see to open the boot is by using the Key in & Push button on the back - the flush removes this lol - an other way of opening the boot.

How easy is it to put on the new knob & gater?

    I have a saxo 1.4 furio 2001 mrk2.

    cheers
    james

Oh yer, i also need to prime & spray the bumpr & flush. have sprayed befor buy never used primer. ne tips?

    thanks

    alright mate,

regarding the sub check all your earths etc., also your wiring, but tbh it could be fucked.

dont know much about seats as have never changed any.

i no that you can get a solenoid popper to open your boot, and you can put the button next to hazard light switch etc..

the gear knob should just unscrew, and the gaitor is easy to get off, just slide a flathead screwdriver in where it meets the plastic at the bottom and pop it off all the way round.

if your confident with cans then yeh do the spraying yourself, but if you want a proper job get it done professionaly. if not, just make sure you sand down well, do about 4-5 coats of primer sanding lightly inbetween coats, then about 4 coats of colour and same with lacquer

ive just sprayed a new wing and grill for mine myself with rattly-cans,
came up real good, just have pleanty of fine grade wet and dry!
And remember to spray the paint on gradualyy, go lightly over the surface quite a few times from a fair distance so you dont get any runs!

    spot on, cheers.

The boot flush looks sweet, though i didnt put alot of primer on what may cause problems later? (think i used 2 cans between the bumper and flush - so they got a couple of layers)
As for the bumper, im going through colour cans like theres no tomorow lol... well 3 in total - I asked if i needed to use lacquer but the lad said i didnt. (halfords made to order spray £10.99 a can)

I saw other paint online for alot less that needs lacquer & its the same KHM (or KMH - cant remember now) code. a bit worried it may be different, though it claims to be saxo metallic blue.

    thanks again

Oh and about the sub, ive rewired the system and it seems all ok, though the 1 sub still crackles like mad if i dont wedge a tea towel in between the sub & the gaurd grill

i think that wrong wiv it any way

If your spraying body parts on your car you WILL need laquer.
  9. #9
i cant remember if its true or just bull, but i read that youre not meant to use 6x9s on the parcel shelf if you have a sub in the boot?
  10. #10
no 6x9's if you have a sub in the boot? mabee because of vibrations?
im a bit pissed off tbh because all the stuff i bought doesnt seem to be right :\
1 of the subs is buggered, flush seems to big.... sigh.
  11. #11
I use 6x9s and sub atm, although its not best.
The best method is to use a sub and a set of comps, as the vibes from the sub make the 6x9s basically deaden..You dont hear the bass from them so renders them pretty useless, But it still works
Just depends what you like and how much money you got to spend!
  12. #12
to ya sub. your voice coil has melted. i did this to two of my subs took em back to the shop and they just replaced em. said it a manfucters problem so got to new 1s and they work a treat
  13. #13
    bought em off ebay
  14. #14
Just started to spray the interia... Rubbed it, primed it, sprayed it - but its started to peal. Will lacqure stop this happening?
  15. #15
yeah use a few nice coats of laquer and it should be okay!

oh and as for the 6x9's and the sub situation, the changes in the air pressure caused by the sub in the boot distorts the sound of the 6x9's basically because of the air around the 6x9's is moving around blah blah blah! lol
someone has written up a post all about it, i'll have a search for it!

not everyone really notices but if you have fine tuned ears or do sound stuff for a job (like me) then you can hear a difference! lol

sounds sweet! post up some pics along the way!
make sure their ported somehow though! (from underneath maybe?)

  18. #18
when you say ported in assuming u mean a hole for the pressure. yeah under if would be sweet. the way ive attualy go it, the shape is really nice! im guna make a progress form i think for the whole poject. Ive got my racing seats, pwerflow exhaust, new front bumper to fit and then im takin out the subs and making a whole new install - i just cant help myself - i just cant stop adding to it lol got some sweet ideas for the boot! it guna lok fuckin awsome when its done!
  19. #19
Awesome cant wait to see it!

i've got my doorpods to build, doing all my interior lighting and dials blue and getting angels soon
  20. #20
Sweet man, theres a good tutorial on here i saw earlier showing ya how to make all the dash dials blue instead of the shity green colour, gunna give that a bash i think. I also just bought some like "blue flexible chequered plate" because it was on sale for £3.50 at halfords - i dont really like the stuff but i thought i could probably find a use for it... i was guna put in the footwells but its only 110cm long and i could really do with 65 - 75 cm for each side & this was the last one & they have discontinued them lol...

Do you think i could take the front seats out and replace the carpet with this stuff or do you think it would look a bit ott?

    cheers
