Remapping ECU

Is it illegal? I have a very handy person who can do it for me for a very small price but is it's illegal doubt i'll be doing that tbh, too much hassle. If it's 100% legal, that'll be done very soon!

    Nope its not illegal

is it a generic remap? or custom?

    do you have any mods?

I've got a twin pipe and getting the induction kit put in tonight. I dont know which one it'll be will figure that out later, just as long as its not illegal!

How cheap are we talking because the gains aren't going to be massive without an uprated cam and complimentary mods.

Well about £100 it'd cost me but thats mates rates what other mods do you reckon then? I can uprate cam etc

Meh, I just seen that you have an '03 VTR so leave the ECU alone and forget about a cam imo.

Save your money as 3 plugs have been known to be problematic.

Or the simple answer is, if your car is running ok atm, leave it that way.

ok i'll ask the girl question...

Save your money as 3 plugs have been known to be problematic.

What are those?! Also had a mate do an oil change and turns out my car was made by Dr Frankenstein - (as standard) my maifold is help on by 4 bolts on one side and 1 on the other which are all different sizes and other random stuff, and obviously had a dodgy service / MOT because there was stuff held on by silicone!

3 plug ECU - Is the type of car computer your VTR has. Older VTRs/Saxos had single plug ECUs. The change was made due to EU emission regulations iirc.

As for your car it sounds like it has had a 'performance' one on and the previous owner wanted to take it off and sell it separate from the car, doing a bodge job in the process.

It doesn't mean a dodgy service or MOT, just a dodgy owner.
