There was a thread on this a day or so ago if you had searched.

No you cant just bolt it on if staying OE on everything else.

You also DONT need a vts head fo boost, you can do it on 8v.

...well thats what i thought .....i was bidding on a turbo kit for a 106 gti....the guy who was selling it said straight away i cant do it so just thought id ask...my friend had a vtr a few years ago and is telling me allsorts to get done ....unsure what is true or not tho...

That kit you were bidding on probably came with a manifold, which is the reason why he's saying it won't work, because 8v and 16v manifolds have different port spacings

    makes sense like

i dint ask him why it would'nt work ....he just seemed a bit adimante that it would'nt!

So it can have a turbo??

you can turbo an 8v, but 16v ones generally see more power

if his kit is a 16v one it wont fit an 8v

lol bit different to an engine though. When we know for example different cam profiles will warrant different bits doing to the head etc.... depending on the overall build.

wait until you see my stage 1, 2 and 3 heads. Stage one is sandpapered, stage two dremeled until shiney, then stage three is hack all the metal out and make the ports as big as possible causing fuel dropout (rivers run fast, so more fuel in the engine)
