big upgrade

   Hi there. First of let me say this is one of the most helpful forums I've ever been on
   Secondly. I need to know what exact part ina list if poss of what ill need to upgrade my 1.1 spree to a vtr engine. My plan is to get all parts and take a good number of months just stripping them, ckeaning them and colour coding them before I actually fit them. The reason I'm doing all of this instead of just buying a vtr is
   1. Whilst I'm cleaning and gathering the parts I can still run round safely in my car
   2. I will learn a lot about how the car runs
   3. I think it'll be a really good project which I plan to document
   
   And beofre anyone says it lol yeah I know insurance will rocket but its all for fun so its worth it
   
   I know ill need
   1. The engine
   2. The ecu
   3. The clutch
   4. The gearbox
   
   Can anyone please help and add to the list. Ps ill also be making step by step instructions on how to clean every part along the way. And thankyou to anyone who replies beforehand

   Hi Mate,
   
   Would you not be better off buying a VTR (or VTS!) in need of TLC and then doing it up off the road, that way you have all the bits already and can take your time. You will always have 2 cars then and when the VTR is finished you sell the 1.1 and jump in the VTR. Its got to be the less painfull route?

   Yeah but its not as much fun as what I'm planning lol plus I alway do stuff the hard way.

   i asked this ?tion and cant rembered who replied but its got a full list of parts on it coz im plannin to do the same but keppin mine flat arche lol

   Add wiring loom, best off upgrading the brakes as well....

   keep your gearbox, the vtr one is crap

    But doesn't it wreck the 1.1 gearbox quickly if you have it attached to a vtr??
    And lee I might take you on with that vtr engine bud keep me posted on it

    nope not really. Ive ran a 1.1 box on a vts for 2 years with no issues

    ye keep the 1.1 box, shorter ratios and shouldnt come up with any problems a few people run them on vtr engines
