Are they really worth it as they are around the £100+ mark when you can get a shortshift from Kam or GMC at half the price.
B&M Short Shift... Worth it

#2Up to you. Most people would say they're the best, but it's whether it's worth almost £50 more to you.
-
#3I have no experience with shortshift so don't really know. If it is better build quality and feels better then why not spend the extra money.
-
#4Exactly, that's what most people say.
I've heard bad things about other Compbrake products, and the reliabiliy or their machining, and the griffiths engineering is a slightly different type to the other two.
With the B&M you get quality, and the best product. It's similar to the 4-2-1 Manifold debate. Do you pay £150 for a Raceland or £300 for basically the same thing, but much better quality Supersprint version?
Personally I'd say either go for the GE one or the B&M, but that's just my personal choice. -
#5I have a B&M and i think its great! Have a look around i got mine of ebay brand new for £50!
Apparently the Compbrake ones can let your gearstick be pushed though as there is only 2 grub screws holding it in place!?!?
And there was a big debate about the GE ones and quite alot of people claimed they damaged syncros!?!?
Just reflecting on what ive read that made me choose the B&M, not going to argue with anyone i only have expirience with the B&M but i would rate it!
-
#6Ive got a ge and for £20 its very good value and does its job, depends how picky you are and how much money you have got to spend on certain things on your car. See you could spend £100 on b+m or spend £20 and have £80 to go towards something else.
-
#7Any shortshifter is likely to do more damage to the synchros as your effectively multiplying the torque of your throw each time.
Ive got a GE one and alloy linkages, does the job fine -
#8I have a B&M in the VTS and a GE Quickshift in the VTR.
Ge one feels better than standard but still crap. The B&M is in a different class altogether! -
#9I have a B&M, I love it, bodged the standard knob on it too so it looks the same
-
#10Looks like the B&M then. Are they still available. Might get one done before FCS if I can get one in time.
-
#11Would this be the one to get then and is this site ok or is POTN better.

#12ge is well worth the money they cost.
I have a b&m now.
Wouldnt say its worth £100 tbh
But does feel slightly better then the GE -
#14saxo180 - Where did you get your B&M one from and how long will it take to fit.
-
#15I couldnt tell you the difference between a spanner and a screwdriver, and i fitted it in under an hour.Quote:saxo180 - Where did you get your B&M one from and how long will it take to fit.
jack the car up, put it on stands, remove the heat sheild on the exhaust, I didnt even take the exhaust off, then undo the bolt that attaches to the gear stick
back in the car, pull off the gator, centre console screw, take that out, undo the 4 bolts holding it down, and remove.
same in reverse to fit. -
#16can fit a b&m on the road without jacking the car up
-
#17I thought that, but it made more sense to do it under the car
-
#19i have both a b&m and ge with X sport linkages, its like a matchbox size to shift from 1st to 5th lol and its tight as hell u can barely wobble my shifter.
-
#20Mate that will royally fudge your box over lol
-
#21no it wont its fine, i had it like that for 2 years no problems. why would it..
-
#22Just ordered my B&M from potn. Should be a good bit of kit accorded to a few people on here.
-
#23have a B&m in mine so much more solid every gear can be placed with ease and speed.
-
#24How much did it cost you from POTN mate?
