  19. #19
try quafie for the lsd mate if your not going in the group buy,but i think it may be to late for thatas they needed the money before xmas
  20. #20

    whats a 'lsd'??????
  21. #21
limited slip differential - concentrates on using the power better to get it down
  22. #22
what craig said .will stop alot of the wheel spin
  23. #23
my 0-60 10 hours lol lmao
  24. #24
lsd stands for limited slip differential, they alow both wheels to give maximum traction under accelerationwhile still alowing some slip for cornering when the inside wheel is turning slower than the outside one. there are various types the most common being a plate type which uses cone washers and friction plates to generate the lsd action these are adjustable for the amount of slip by building a differing degree of tightness into them but they wear out just like any friction material. quaife use a gear system similar to a torsen and these are torgue biasing systems which dont wear out this is the type in my rover vitesse turbo but with big power in the wet when cornering u are better with a standard open diff as it will spin rether than pulling u into the roundabout u are trying to negotiate too fast.haha. have any of u guys hear of a phantom grip...its a lsd unit that fits inside ur original diff and gives about 150 foot pounds of brakaway torque. had one in my golf and it was great. they are a fraction of the price of a tru limited slip diff.
  25. #25
    yeh what he said
  26. #26
check them out.phantom grip limited slip differentials
  27. #27

Surely some super wide front tyres would do the job?
  30. #30
10.72 seconds in an unmodified furio... using ma fone stopwatch.
  31. #31
i managed 7.2 in my vts but that was with a gtech so im not sure how accurate that is?
  32. #32
few people have used them mate, and i dont think they seem to be that far out
  33. #33
Nice one i will give it another go today then!
  34. #34

It was a 1986 mk1 golf cabriolet running a 2.0l 16v 9a with low comp forged pistons, pauter rods t3/4 hybrid and dta standalone made 361whp at 1.5bar of boost, best 1/4 time was 11.7 on bfg drag radial. I was running a phamtom grip as i couldnt justify the $1000+ price of a quaife. They do work well, broke a few boxes but just transfered the dif.

    www.letstorquebhp.com

put in the cars weight without the driver which should be around 920kg as standard then the bhp and the site will calculate everything
  37. #37
    clicky
  38. #38
ive just fitted my atb diff into my box and ive got to say the BE gearboxs are much better than the MA ones, and the diff is only 6 bolts to change, box doesnt have to come apart. John, you gonna put one of those or another diff in the your car?
  39. #39
i hope your taking pics as you go along
  40. #40
ive got a pic of the diff but not of me putting it in the box, got a pic of the box though

    hi there,
I've recently purchased a vts 16v. It's completely standard, and somehow I've managed to do 0-60 in under 7 seconds several times. My best time so far is 6.73sec.
I own a G-tech performance meter and tried it over and over again, because I could't believe my eyes when I saw the result.

    nope
I even thought the g-tech was malfunctioning, but when we tested it in my mate's Ford Focus tdci the result was about 11seconds, like it should.

gtech not quite the most accurate thing in the world

i did 7.01 in my vts at the modified nationals last year

    piper cams
    4-1 manifold
    full stainless steel scorpion exhaust
    airfilter etc

i was the fastest saxo the sprint only because no supercharged/turbo ones went down, but the track was very gravelly which didnt help some people
