Problem removing vts head

  1. #1
Im in the process of removing my vts head and the 2 cam locking holes line up but when I try to lock the flywheel hole it wont line up if i lock the fly hole the 2 cam holes dont line up by about half the with of the hole
Is it possiable someone else has had it off before and not put it back on correctly? the engine seemed to be running fine before (well before I blew the head gasket) any ideas?

Bang yer 3 locking pins in, put new belt on, tension and away you go. Its possible that the old belt has stretched (or was put on 1 tooth out before but I doubt it to be honest). As long as its locked and you have the belt on right it will be fine. Remember of course to rotate the engine by hand 2 times to feel for any valve/piston contact.

    Good luck

best bet is lock the cams, if your removing the head you can always rotate the crank back to tdc and relock it before refitting the head.
