Painting rear drum and calipers.

Wanting to paint my rear drum (black) just to tidy it up and my calipers white.
Whats best paint to use, and process?

    Sand, paint and lacquer?

    Cheers

use a wire brush mate, get involved with it and some brake or wheel cleaner. Then use hammerite paint mate, no need to laquar either.

Dont paint your drums a colour, just do them black!

Painting the drums just makes it more obvious you don't have rear discs and makes it look like you wish you did haha

Hammerite is fine, halfrauds also do a paint for calipers/alloys. Comes in a blue box of some sort and it has all the stuff you need. I used the red one and it did the job perfectly and lasts well, still lovley shade of red 12 months on.

    I got a 250ml tin.
Did all 4 calipers and only used about a quarter of it.

i just sanded my down using 3 grades of paper mate, then wiped it all down to remove exses dust and then i taped up the disc etc ( i was lazy didnt want to take it off) and then just aplied my hamerite great paint to use aswell really easy to work with. Then leave a good hour i say brfore putting your alloy on just to make sure. Take a look on my progress thread pics of them on that.

Caliper paint is a rip off, it's basically just high temp. paint with a different label and a bumped up price... just use any normal high temp paint.

I did all four calipers and hardly used any paint, used high temperature engine enamel and seems to be wearing well, as for calipers in white I would advise against it as it would always look dirty... and as with drums always black...always!

just give them a good scrub with a wire brush, clean all the shit off then use the proper caliper paint if u want it to last.
