track rod end ball joint nut?

    ive just lowered my suspension eveyrthing is back on just need to tighten up the track rod end nut. however it wont tighten past a couple of turns as the hole ball joint keeps spinning? HELP!!

    put an allen key in the bottom of the track rod then use a spanner/ratchet spanner on the nut.

    o no ive renewed them ones its the one that controls the stearing fella. but ive sussed it now tho cheers

    how do you tighten them? one of mine just turns and it doesnt have an allen key hole like the drop links do

    is there a how to guide on fitting new track rods & ball joints ?

    yes there is.

    If the allen key wont go in or is rounded, use some pipe plies or mole grips to clamp the track rod down into the strut, nice and tight.

    Then the nut will go on

    Track rod ends do not have any allen key inserts

    They work on a taper and to stop them spinning you merely have to apply some pressure on the top to prevent it from spinning. Sometimes just a hand on top is enough but sometimes it takes a damn good set of pliers

    Just give the thread a good clean first to allow the nut to go on smoothly. Makes things alot easier

    mine have a torx cut out in mine

    put a jack underneath and let the cars weight hold it from spinning

    nevermind me TRE is upper ball joint isnt it , so you couldnt put a jack under after all
