Turbo’s n things :)

    Hey all..

Right, i've got me a 1.4 Furio and i've had some stupid idea that i want to get a turbo conversion on there..

    couple of things really.

1, is it worth it ?
    2, is it possible ?
3, straight forward to do ?
4, how much extra bhp will it give me ?
6, cost of it all ?

I'm totally clueless to all this (kinda) and it wont be me doing it, if i plan to do it i'll take it to a garage and let the real blokes sort it out

    What you recon people?

not really worth it on a 1.4 obvious advantages lots of top end power on a little engine but downside may not cope with it very well bigger engines tend to be the ones with them coz they can take it best to keep it how it is maybe cams port polish then after no claims have built up get a car with standard turbo or fit one to a vts?? options are endless but its personal choice id say dont bother

the 1.6 block is just a bored out 1.4 so there should be no more reliability probs than on the bigger engine. look at the Carworx website, which iirc lists the 1.4 turbo conversion as giving around 180bhp. remember you'll also need uprated brakes and clutch. in the end it's only worth it if you think it's worth it, after all it's you who's spending the money

    Wooo... 180bhp

I'm liking the sound of that but how much is 180bhp gonna cost to do this do you recon ?

minimum 5k, thats more than double power, forged pistons the lot for that

Just bought SaxoAl`s VTR turbo .......and it is a 100 times better than my normal VTR

you dont have to go for forced induction, get some cams manifold, de-cat and good filter then get a remap should have a nice increase

What do you think the total would be for the Cams, De Cat etc and how would i get them fitted (manchester) ?

I've already got a pipex induction kit on there so ive got the "good filter" part covered ?

Have a look at this link and see what you think..

    Ebay Link....

I know its nothing compared to a turbo or super charger but will this do much more than my standard induction kit ?

hahahahahahahahahahahaha. 15bhp for £100 have a think about that for a second mate. avoid that ebay shite at all costs and save your money. as for you having the good induction kit, the piperx is an open filter and all it sucks into the engine is warm air- so you're actually losing power. get an enclosed filter such as the Green, BMC, or piperx viper. and tbh, by the time you've spent money on that, cams(and headwork to compliment them), full exhaust, manifold and remap, you'll have been better off just putting in a vtr or even a vts engine.

Get a little more cash together and go for a VTS/GTi Conversion ......from 70-80BHP to 120-130BHP good power upgrade

You'll need that money for insurance costs mate.
And driving like that, then fuel aswell. Trust me, you'll be able to watch the fuel gauge go down within miles.
