195/45 compared to 195/40's

Can anyone running 195/40/16 tyres tell me how much of a difference they make to running 45's?

I Currently have 25's on a set of 16" 206 gti rims with spacers.

With no arch linings these still rub on full lock.

If i had 40's would it cure the problem..

I fancy getting arch linings back in.

or is it that the gti rims just arnt made for saxo's and therefore dont fit.

Might just get some O.z's that fit perfectly.

    Any help appreciated

not sure about the offset of your wheels, but im running 16" tsw's with 40s.

Arch liners still in and they catch slightly on full lock. Think the 40s are a fair bit dearer than 45s though.

I got 16 40's on mine and there ok, lowered 40mm

I'm pretty sure the 206Gti 'Nimrods' are ET25, if you can get your hands on some 10mm spacers, borrow those and just try that first before you go splashing out £300 on some new tyres.

    Ideally though you need 195/40's

sell your wheels, get 15's of o 45's

Depends how low you are, if you're down anything over 40mm you'll get scrubbing without arch mods. Even 40mm's cutting it, you might get the occasional rub on full lock.

Some people however are down quite a bit and have no problems!

Should be OK then on 50's, might still get the occasional rub on full lock still.

last post because i feel im highjacking(sorry) the alloys are momo thunders, the ones i have are made in saxo fitment only, i have no idea if this would help them to fit beter and have no rubing

Not a blind bit of difference mate, VTS alloys with 195/50's rub when down low.

Might have to invest in some pro race 1.2's anyway because im having doubts if my Brembo setup will fit :$

im down 60mm with 16in oz alloys and 195/45/16 had to do some work to stop rubbing at rear, front is fine. if i wanted lower on the back would have to get the 195/40/16....... also if your wheels have the wrong offset as JoshB suggested, ive got some 10mm spacers for sale... and im in notts....
