hub nut torque setting?

    Anyone know how many newtons or pounds i have to torque the hub nut up by ? its a mk2 vtr

    250 Nm/184 lbf ft

    Don't forget to pinch the end to stop them coming off.

    you mean when you knock the ends into the grooves of the shaft??

    get a torque wrench that goes up to 300~ They are around £60-£80 I think.

    No, The end of the nut need to be crimped after you have tightened it. If you look at then before you take them off you will see. The drive shafts is notched and you have to crimp it in to the notch.

    This is why the haynes etc, say to buy a new nut, because if the staking ends up in the same place from last time then it might not exist/be as strond, depending how mashed it got taking it out.

    Just do it FT (Fucking TIGHT) and as said - knock the end of the nut into the groove on the shaft itself

    yep, mine arent going anywhere.
    i'll use the correct torque settings next time, its all coming apart again soon for new drop links track rod ends and wishbone ball joints

    The torque setting preloads the wheel bearing.

    I won't explain what that means for normal people, just do it.

    Although i did go years without using a torque wrench on them, just doing them up effing tight.
