lowering - idiot mechanic

    just been to a local garage to ask about lowering my car and some, mechanic tells me i will forever be putting gearbox's in my car... true or not

    gearboxes? no. if you lower alot it puts extra strain on driveshafts. but thats not going to rip them to pieces often. dont worry mate. slam it

    The lower you go the more shock gets transited in to the car so things to fail sooner. Box does not really tend to be that much of a problem though. You can get to a point where you have so little travel that the wheel can start lifting on bumps. If your driving like a hoon the wheel will spin up and when it hits the ground can eventually blow your diff apart. You don't see that to often on road cars though. Its normally drive shafts that start failing if you start going very low like coleman258 said.

    Sounds odd... never heard anyone talk about saxos gear box's going from lowering... if its a dodgey mechanic... make sure he doesnt do the torsion bar in notches / clicks...
